THE MAGIC TOKEN by Susanne Marie Knight
More reviews and order info
Susanne Marie Knights says, "The idea for The Magic Token came from a desire to combine a Regency with a touch of magic. I came across this sentence in a biography on Charles Darwin: "[Charles'] friends enjoyed his tall stories, he claimed to one that he owned a Roman coin." The rest, as they say, is history!" The Magic Token is Gloriously Magical and loads of fun. When one has invoked a spell to see who your true love is, what is a little magic token? Well, it involves Amanda Barclay and a wee adventure when she runs into Marcus Hamilton, the fifth Duke of Yarborough once more. Marcus had come to visit his old friend to escape matchmaking mamas. When he meets Amanda for the second time, he finds his heart is engaged but how can he convince her that he is sincere? Perhaps a bit of propinquity would work, so he engages Amanda to help with his sister. Thus begins a magical romance. Amanda must decide if love achieved through magic is truly love. Susanne Marie Knight has taken a magical plot devise and whipped up a charming tale in The Magic Token. Her characters are full blown and interesting, while the minor characters add spice. Ms. Knight's writing is bright, and full of that Regency flavor readers enjoy. A spritely romp which makes for a blast of a read!
HEART OF THE DIAMOND by Carrie Brock
More reviews and order info> Read the first three chapters of Heart of the Diamond for FREE at http://www.lionhearted.com/diamond.3ch.pdf From the moment author Carrie Brock first saw Gone With The Wind, she knew she wanted to write historical romance. Not just write it, but do it so well that she could transport readers into another world for a time, sweep them up in romance and adventure, and leave them sighing when they complete that last sentence. She looks for that spark between the hero and heroine in books she reads and those she writes-the battle of wills between two people who belong together, but face challenges within and beyond their control to reach their happy ending. That's what Carrie loves about romance! With a heart of ice, Blake Dylan, the Earl of Diamond, is bent on revenge. His return to England marks the beginning of his plans. He will do anything, even wed his enemy's daughter to have his justice and his vengeance. Lady Nicole Langley dreams of true love and marriage, only to find her worst fear realized. But a marriage of convenience is not for her. The situation becomes more complicated, when under the guise of another, a handsome stranger lures her into a compromising situation. Such a pleasurable read makes for hours of page-turning pleasure. Carrie Brock has a talent for spirited dialogue and complex romantic situations. Heart of the Diamond is a delightful long length Regency romance set against a revenge plot. The characters, heroic and villainous, are well drawn and will peak the readers interest. Relax and enjoy!
LOVERS NEVER LIE by Gael Morrison
More reviews and order info
Gael and her family traveled to Cambridge, England to live for a year, where they studied, took up the sport of squash, and enjoyed long walks along the river Cam. They explored Europe as a family, enjoying the delights of France, Italy and Spain, spending Christmas in Salzburg, Austria. After returning to Canada, Gael and her husband had two more sons and she settled into teaching English as a Second Language to refugees and new Canadians at a community college, where Prince Charles of England visited her class. Her love of storytelling and adventure led to writing, where she gets to combine romance and suspense in her romantic mysteries. Lovers Never Lie: Stacia Roberts wants a little adventure in her dull life. She adds a bit too much spice when she answers a newspaper ad, and armed with a package, boards a plane bound for Greece. Looking for excitement, a bit of sunshine and possibly romance, she attempts to dismiss Andrew Moore, a fellow passenger, who doesn't appear a likely candidate. When circumstances force them to further their acquaintance, Stacia comes to fear he may just be her enemy rather than her new friend. Andrew has his eye on Stacia all right, especially her package. He just wonders what is going to happen to the innocent who is carrying it. Or, is she more than she seems? As the couple are thrown together, Andrew begins to lose his heart. Adventure
calls, and romance flourishes as Stacie and Andrew uncover deadly plots and intrigue of international thieves.
Gale Morrison has her own unique use of languague. She offers intrigue, action adventure and romance, making for fast paced
reading. You hate to put it away when you are finished, disappointed that there isn't a new adventure for the characters to
embark upon. The author has created interesting characterizations set against an exotic backqround. Lovers Never Lie is tension filled and tightly written, thus making for pleasurable reading. You'll get hooked.
THE REBEL'S BRIDE by JoAnn DeLazzari
More reviews and order info.
From the time JoAnn could read, the written word became a passion. She could be anyone and go anywhere. Married for over thirty years to husband Tom, she has been blessed with a man who supports her passion for writing. Stimulated by several authors, she found the literary world as fascinating as the real one and set out to write a novel. And re-write as she learned the craft. Her first book, Scoundrel's Captive, introduced her to the wonderful world of networking and travel. Scoundrel's Desire opened the doors to feminine bonding from all over the world. When not writing, she works full time, fishes whenever possible with her husband, and still keeps reading, researching and learning. The Word on Romance says: Betrayed by a married woman and banished to America, the very last thing Ransom Kent wants is a wife. But a wife is exactly what he's getting, thanks to an agreement between his father and the Duke of Winthorpe. Ransom is more interested in doing all he can to help the new United States defeat the British in the War of 1812.
What a joy it was to read an old-fashioned historical romance, complete with pirates, sailing ships, and mistaken identities (plus
a few more things which I'll leave a secret). Ransom is a hero without peer, and Catherine a heroine worthy of such a hero. I
absolutely loved when Catherine defends her new home along with her "petticoat brigade." Perfectly written and completely
balanced, The Rebel's Bride is a dynamite read.
CHARADES by Ann Logan
More reviews and order info.
Ann Logan's background includes working for Naval Investigative Services. Although NIS spent a lot of time scrounging around for acts of espionage or sabotage, they still had to take care of day to day business. This took the form of thefts, burglary, misappropriation of government funds or crimes of larger magnitude such as rape, assault or murder. Needless to say, the FBI always grabbed up the really exciting things first. She took the statements of all the usual suspects, real or imagined, including the periodic homophobic round-ups that the military says it doesn't do any more. In the five years she worked there, she saw more miscreants than she ever hoped to see in her life-and that was just the agents. A Romance Review: Oooh! Love that cover! George Haber is a hunk pro cover model and really makes this LionHearted cover sizzle. This is a Five Star, nay a 6 Star book! Am I prejudiced? Yes, LionHearted has never published a bad book. Here is a writer that knows how to tell a story that will grab and keep your interest. Charades is a tigntly written, tension filled, sensous tale of romantic suspense. This fast-paced global jaunt is filled with danger and romance. Ann Logan is a fine new author that readers will love. She gives us a hero to die for, and a heroine to cheer on. From the first page, you are hooked. The gimmick is a blind date with pay, but that is only from the heroine's point of view. The hero's agenda is the theme of the plot. Woo the nerdy miss, make her fall in love with him and bring her to Germany, where she will meet her grandfather, a former Nazi who has some hidden loot to account for. Of course there are twists like - who is trying to kill the heroine - or is it the hero? And who else is after the money? Our heroine, Mercy Fuentes, is a nerdy repressed recluse, and though Wulf Rheinhart, the hero, pretends to be a retiring workaholic and assumes a German identity, he is quite the opposite. The secondary characters are interesting and lively as well and keep you guessing as to who all the characters really are. An intercontinental romp from Texas to Germany, and then to Mexico makes for an interesting read. Great internal and exciting external tension will keep you glued to the page.
